Mr.
Green Peas (1995)
Norman is the only one in his class who doesn’t have
a pet, until his father brings home a part-time pet, an iguana.
He names his new pet “Mr. Greenpeas” and arranges
a class trip so that the children really believe that he has
“the most outrageous pet in the world.” My neighbor
owned an iguana whose name was Charles. We have never owned
one, and probably never will.
“…A surefire hit, with text
and pictures happily matched to appeal to young audiences.”
--School Library Journal
“Everything about this book is
charming…the story is sure to be popular with the preschool
crowd and older.” --Booklist
