Jorah’s
Journal (1997)
Jorah’s family moves from an apartment to a house, and
Jorah writes in her journal, ”I hate my new house. It
has bugs.” Jorah has to contend with troubles at school
and a friendless upcoming birthday. When we first moved to
a house, my son Michael remarked, “I like the old world
better,” and Jenna wrote the same sentiment in her journal.
Our house still has crickets.
“A simple chapter book brings
a personal immediacy to the classic moving story. Jorah hates
having to move…Kids will enjoy the switch to the fervent
voice ('T is gross. Today is the second worst day of my life.')
as well as the relaxed approach to writing about what you
really feel.” --Hazel Rochman, from Booklist, c. 1997
