Slumber
Party (1996)
Zoë has a sleepover for her seventh birthday. Zoë
and her friends go out for pizza, eat cake, and settle into
their sleeping bags when the trouble begins. This story was
based on Jenna’s first sleepover---the children believed
our apartment was haunted when my upstairs neighbor started
vacuuming at midnight. In real life, I banged on the ceiling
with a broomstick.
“This story has it all; the weepers,
the non-sleepers, the strange frightening noises magnified
by 'very very very scary stories'. In her usual engaging style,
Caseley employs line and design to focus the reader…skims
along smoothly, exuding cozy good humor…A truthful tale
that can prepare youngsters for their first slumber parties."
