Ada
Potato (1987)
Ada takes up the violin and enjoys playing, but her pleasure
is spoiled when a group of older children makes fun of her.
She and her friends solve the dilemma. In real life, I was
called “Judy Patootie” when I ran through the
tunnel clutching my viola. My mother wouldn’t let me
quit playing the instrument, although I begged and pleaded.
“A welcome, non-didactic treatment
of a problem familiar to many children.” --Horn Book
